In June 2013 I got a tweet, while at the MIT Civic Media Conference, from a developer from Costa Rica. He said he have learned about Chicas Poderosas and wanted to help. By the time we were planning our first event in San Jose with Irene Ros and Nicola Hughes, and this twitter boy was a huge fan of Irene, so started talking to both of us in Spanish…
Well the reason is that he wanted to get involved, he voluntarily offered his help to cooperate with whatever he could, and a couple of months later he was not only co-working at the chicas poderosas event in San Jose, Costa Rica, as he helped myself, Matthew Caruana Galizia, Giannina Segnini, Rigoberto Carvajal and Antonio Jimenez to launch the chapter of Hacks & Hackers Costa Rica.
After this Roberto and I were inseparables in terms of moving things forward in digital storytelling, cooperating in a numerous amount of Chicas Poderosas events and projects. I love to work with Roberto and I’m so happy to have witness his development as a professional developer, not coming from a journalistic background, event after event he really grasped the core of what is needed in this completely in-change environment of news online.
As long as Roberto wants he will have a very special spot at Chicas Poderosas ventures. He iterate from a lonely developer, to an amazing team player, interested and committed to make Chicas Poderosas and team member not only understand the process but engage and follow along the days of production. I would dare to say that Chicas Poderosas empowered the great will Roberto had and brought it outside, and now we see Roberto a Chico Poderosas at core.
Thank you Roberto for having believed, trust and having put so much enthusiasm in all your appearances at Chicas Poderosas! We love ya!

En junio de 2013 recibí un tweet, mientras en la Conferencia de Medios Cívicos en MIT, de un desarrollador de Costa Rica. Dijo que habia escuchado acerca de Chicas Poderosas y quería ayudar. En el momento en que estábamos planeando nuestro primer evento en San José con Irene Ros y Nicola Hughes, y esto tuitero ¡era un gran fan de Irene, por lo que empezó a hablar con nosotras dos en español …
Bueno, la razón es que quería participar, voluntariamente ofreció su ayuda a colaborar con todo lo que podía, y un par de meses más tarde, no era sólo co-trabajador en el evento Chicas Poderosas en San José, Costa Rica, ya que ayudado a mí, Matthew Caruana Galizia, Giannina Segnini, Rigoberto Carvajal y Antonio Jiménez a iniciar el capítulo de Hacks & Hackers Costa Rica.
Después de esto, Roberto y yo éramos inseparables en términos de hacer avanzar las cosas en la narrativa digital, cooperando en una numerosa cantidad de eventos y proyectos Chicas Poderosas.
Me encanta trabajar con Roberto y estoy muy feliz de tener testigos de su desarrollo como un desarrollador profesional, alguien que no vino de un fondo periodístico, que evento tras evento realmente captó el núcleo de lo que se necesita en este entorno de cambio de noticias en línea. Siempre y cuando quiere Roberto tendrá un lugar muy especial en Chicas Poderosas. Su iteración desde un desarrollador solitario, a un jugador de equipo increíble, interesado y comprometido a hacer Chicas Poderosas y a que los miembros del equipo no sólo entiendan el proceso, sino que se involucran y sigan a lo largo de los días de producción. Me atrevería a decir que Chicas Poderosas saco la gran voluntad que Roberto tenía y se lo llevó fuera, y ahora vemos a Roberto un Chico Poderoso enserio.
