On Monday January 25, Luisa Ortiz (@luortiz) and Mariana Gallardo (@ marianusha06) presented the chapter of Chicas Poderosas Mexico in Querty, a radio program broadcast on Reactor 105.7 of the Mexican Institute of Radio (IMER). Querty is a program dedicated to technology and Internet startups, led by Diego Mendiburu and Leticia Gasca Besides presenting what the initiative to Mexican radio listeners is, presenters invited Chicas Poderosas to participate throughout the program where current issues in the world of technology were discussed, such as the resignation of four senior executives from Twitter, or issues and digital security vulnerability, following the leak of private conversations through instant messaging between the drug lord Joaquin Guzman Loera, El Chapo, and Mexican actress Kate del Castillo. The program was also an opportunity to talk about The 19 Million Project, an event held last November in Rome, organized by Chicas Poderosas and Coalizione Italian Libertà e Diritti Civili (CILD), in which more than 150 journalists gathered, designers and programmers in order to discuss the narrative of the media around the refugee crisis and develop projects that could contribute to solve them. Querty was an excellent forum to present plans that Chicas Poderosas Mexico want to jump-start this year: workshops on digital narratives, a course on GIFs creation and Chicas Poderosas chapters in other states of the Republic, among other things.
